Week One- O Holy Night
Luke 2:8-11 - An angel of the Lord appeared…and…said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.’
“Jesus went about Palestine announcing that now, at last, God’s Kingdom was arriving. The message went out as much by what He did as what He said – the message that ancient prophecies were coming true, that Israel’s story was reaching its destination at last, that God Himself was on the move and was about to rescue His people and put the world to rights.” NT Wright
For God in all his fullness
was pleased to live in Christ,
20 and through him God reconciled
everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth
by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Colossians 1: 19-20
Jesus is __the Gift of Christmas____.
6 Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest
honor and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
The beauty of the message this week is about __God becoming a human being___.
